Roadmap

Here are the major features we are planning to release in the next few weeks. If you'd like to know which of these have already shipped, visit our changelog page.

Improved reporting tools (April 2024)

Improve the usability of the report screen by adding a search and filter system. Additionally, help user locate broken links by showing the link body, and where exactly in the page is it located.

Rescan only selected links (April 2024)

Allow quicker feedback by scanning only the selected broken links instead of the entire website.

Monitor missing redirects (Q2 2024)

We often move pages around, because of website redesigns or to improve SEO, and forget to add a redirect to the previous URL. Bernard should make sure all your website links keep being reachable to avoid breaking backlinks and user bookmarks.

Expanding the scope of Bernard (2024)

There is more to running a website than just fixing broken links. What if Bernard could help with that? Stay tuned for an announcement.

Under the hood

Support for punycode and emoji URLs

Domain names with accented characters, emojis and non-Latin characters require Punycode support for Bernard to crawl them correctly.

Tracking down false positives

False positives are very annoying, and are often caused by non-compliant web servers or Bernard setting off trigger-happy bot detection systems. This is a long term effort in keeping an eye on the system and applying workarounds wherever possible, in a constant game of whack-a-mole. Your feedback when you notice anything wrong is invaluable.
